What we aim to

As the world is being jeopardized by this tremendous COVID-19 pandemic, a stronger joint effort is needed to put an end to this situation. However, this disease is not the only major threat our world faces nowadays. Keeping away nuclear and chemical materials and biological agents from all those who could use them with terrorism purposes entails a paramount challenge as well. Regardless of, whether the threat comes from biological agents or toxins, chemical or nuclear material, or cyber- attacks, these issues must be addressed urgently.

The Initiative for Global Security (IGS) aims to the Nonproliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction including Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Weapons. We work with national and regional leaders, and decision makers, always trying to turn ideas into actions, thus, developing and delivering solutions to global and regional challenges.

Our Programs

All our programs include, as a key factor, the involvement of the community. By focusing on the youth, we spread knowledge to youngsters and children using webinars. For instance, within our Nuclear program, we carry on short-courses and lectures on the benefits of the peaceful uses of nuclear technologies dedicated to middle-school students. If your school is interested in joining these webinars, please contact us.

The recent entry into force of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons encourages us to work more and more to raise awareness, at all levels, about the importance of the prohibition of nuclear weapons. On the other hand, we aim to highlight the impact that the peaceful uses of nuclear energy  has in our society. That is why we have implemented a workstream exclusively dedicated to school-age children , in order to teach them, with custom-made lessons, the benefits of the pacific use of this magnificent source of energy and describe how safe and reliable it is.

Biosafety & Biosecurity are these days two very important topics due to the current COVID19 pandemic. Beyond that, we  work in permanent dialogue with institutions, whenever academic, governmental, non-governmental level and the private sector to, together, promote good practices in Biosafety & Biosecurity and  create long-lasting  solutions that strengthen our systems.

With this program and within the framework of the Chemical Weapons Convention, we aim to raise awareness about the challenges we face at the local, regional and global scale.
